I went to Kampachi at the Hotel Equatorial. It was quite wonderful, I had Toro (tuna belly), hamachi (yellow tail), tako (Octopus), Mirugai (Scallop), Hotategai (horse clam) and grilled eel (Unagi) on rice. The scallop and the tuna were the stars of the meal and everything was lovely.

Amazing amount of tropical birds, all flitting about above your head. The only downer is the humidity, although I did make the mistake of going after a rain storm.

Night Market

Thursday is the night market near Taman Bahagia. A whole bustling block of street food, fruit, dried things, sweet cakes and buns, vegetables, gadgets, home wear, pirate CD, DVD, clothes, shoes..etc.

I tried ‘sweet and sour’ fruit. It was very interesting, containing a mix of guava, mango and some other fruits I don’t know, some marinated in chilly water. It came with a pack of powder that was salty and sugary. I quite liked it, but I think its an acquired taste as some of the fruits were really sour (which I enjoyed!)

Hawker market again..

Went for lunch at the hawker market where I first had a taste of MJ. We had lots of trials and tribulations in the lab today, things broke and got fixed then other things broke. Experimental physics. pfft.
